Reiki is a thousands of years old hands on healing technique.It is believed to have originated as a tibetan buddhist practice that was rediscovered in the late 1800's by Dr. Mikao Usui,a japanese buddhist.It is very simple yet powerful technique that can be easily learned by anyone.

Dr. Usui dedicated his life to the teaching of ancient truth,and without his disciplined perseveren,we might not have the blessings of reiki energy.Our life is enriched by his love for humankind.He was totally dedicated to reiki,and today he is a great inspiration to all reiki healers,teachers and students.

Dr. Mikao Usui,a buddhist monk,in the city of Kyoto,Japan,begane a twenty eight year research to rediscover how Lord Buddha used to heal.Before Jesus Christ,Buddha had posessed the gift of healing through divine love and human touch.The traditional reiki story begins with Dr.Usui,but reiki was definately ancient.

The word Reiki comes from two japanese words-Rei and Ki.Rei is the upper japanese kanji character and Ki is the lower.

Rei-Spiritual wisdom

Research into the estoric meaning for the japanese kanji character Rei has given a much deeper understanding of this ideogram.The word Rei as it is used in Reiki is more accurately interpreted to mean supernatural knowledge or spiritual consciousness.This is the wisdom that comes from God or higher self.This is the God-consciousness which is all knowing.It understands each person completely.It knows the cause of all physical,mental and emotional problems and sufferings,and knows what to do to heal them.

Ki-The life force

Ki means the same as chi in chinese,prana in sanskrit and mana in hawaiian.It has also been called odicforce,orgone and bioplasma.It has been given many other names by various cultures that have been aware of it.Ki is the life force.It is also called the vital life force,or the universal life force.This is the non-physical energy that animates all living things.As long as something is alive,it has life force circulating through it,and sorrounding it.When it dies,the life force departs.If your life force is low,or if there is a restriction in its flow,you will be more vulnerable to illness.When it is high and flowing freely,you are less likely to get sick.Life force plays an important role in everything we do.It animates the body,and is also the primary energy of our emotions,thoughts and spiritual life.

It is the God consciousness called Rei that guides the life force called Ki in the practice we call Reiki.Hence Reiki can be defined as spiritually guided force energy.This is meaningful interpretation of the word Reiki.It most closely describes the experience most people have of it.Reiki guides itself with its own wisdom.
