Happiness is of two types, one is transient and the other long lasting. We can call the latter as true happiness.
We come across many people in our lives who are full of energy, have a wide circle of friends and are always on the move. They want change and action all the time and give an impression of being happy. But their happiness is only transient, short lived and conditional. In reality, they are always dissatisfied and discontented, far from true happiness.
True happiness is a great blessing and it brings contentment and satisfaction. It gives peace of mind and develops good qualities in a person.
Life is full of challenges. All of us face different set of problems and obstacles. But these problems and obstacles are not meant to discourage or develop a negative attitude in us. Rather they are meant to evolve us by realizing our latent superhuman capabilities.
If you are not happy, then it indicates you are not living happily. You have not learnt to accept the world as it is. So, all you need is a right attitude towards others.
There are two main reasons of unhappiness. The first is self centeredness, when one always thinks of self gain without a thought of giving to others. According to Plutarch, 'Selfish people are victims of self conceit. They deprive themselves of life's richest blessings, which are happiness and peace of mind.' The second is to have improper desires or cravings. People desire for money, lusts and possessions. They look at wealth of others and crave to possess them too. It is good to strive for a better life, but craving for material things and not enjoying what one already has halts the growth process and makes one unhappy.
